The Family Behind My Entrepreneurial Journey
Entrepreneurship is often framed as an individual pursuit. From the outside, people usually see the decisions, the opportunities, the growth, and the person whose name is attached to the work.
In reality, very little of it happens alone.
When people ask what role my family plays in my entrepreneurial journey, the honest answer is that they play the most important role. I often say I am a unicorn when it comes to my village, and I mean that very sincerely. I know not everyone has the kind of support I have, which is probably why I am so aware of it.
The Family Support That Creates Space
My family plays the most important role in my entrepreneurial journey, and I do not say that lightly. I often say I am a unicorn when it comes to my village because I know how rare this kind of support is.
My husband is incredibly supportive, not just in a general or encouraging way, but in the practical, everyday ways that actually make growth possible. He is always telling me to go do what I need to do to reach my goals. When opportunities come up, whether that means travel, speaking, teaching, or time away from the normal routine, he is there holding down the fort. That matters more than I think people realize.
And outside of my husband, I have even more support around our family. My mother-in-law comes at the drop of a dime to help us with our kids. My mom does the same. My sister owns a daycare just a few miles away, and it is not just a simple daycare! It is the best daycare on the planet.
That kind of access to care for my kids gives me peace while I am working, leading, or stepping into something that requires more of me. It allows me to focus because I know they are cared for by people who love them and know them.
For me, that support has been a major part of making entrepreneurship feel sustainable. It does not remove the pressure, and it does not make every season easy. But it does create enough steadiness around me to keep moving without feeling like every part of life is competing for survival.
The Team That Allows the Business to Keep Moving
I also cannot talk about this journey without talking about my team.
They allow me to do the things I need to do while holding down the fort inside the company. They make sure our patients receive the best possible care. They take care of the details that go into running a successful business, including the parts most people never see.
That trust is important. As a business owner, you eventually learn that growth cannot depend on you being in every room at every moment. The company has to be supported by people who understand the standards, care about the work, and can carry the mission forward in their own roles.
My team does that every day.
What This Season Has Taught Me
All of these pieces come together in a way that allows me to keep building while still having some sense of sanity in my life.
My family supports the person behind the business. My team supports the business itself. Together, they create the structure that allows me to grow as an entrepreneur, clinician, speaker, and leader without feeling like I am doing it alone.
That is probably the biggest lesson for me. Entrepreneurship may require personal drive, but it also requires support. The people around you shape what you are able to carry, how long you are able to carry it, and how grounded you feel while doing the work.
I am very aware that my journey is not just mine. It has been held, supported, and strengthened by the people around me.
